Director's welcome

Welcome to the Korean Education Centre in Sydney.

The Korean Education Centre (KEC) in Sydney was established in August 1989 by the government of the Republic of Korea in accordance with the “Act on Educational Support for Korean Nationals Residing Abroad”. The KEC was located within the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney until it relocated in 2010 to a separate building equipped with classrooms to enable enhanced Korean language education.

The KEC’s goal is to help both Korean-national students residing in Australia and local Australian students learn Korean. The Centre actively promotes Korean language courses in primary and secondary schools, and works alongside with schools. Korean teachers and students. We also work to promote educational exchange programs between Korean and Australian schools.

Additionally, the KEC co-operates with local Korean communities to support educational activities, and promote education-related events. Also, the KEC regularly provides textbooks to Korean community language schools to help Korean-national children grow into global talents with pride as Koreans.
