Program : Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Program
  • (Objective) To invite highly competent international students to study in Korea with the aim of developing a closely knit international network and to nurture globally competent human resources
  • (Host) Ministry of Education (MOE), National Institute for International Education (NIIED)
  • Scholarship duration and eligibility
Graduate
Grant period Master's course Language course 1 yr + Master's course 2 yrs
Doctoral course Language course 1 yr + Doctoral course 3 yrs
Eligibility
  1. Applicant must be a citizen of their country of origin
  2. (Master's) Have attained (or will attain) a Bachelor's degree as of August 31 of the planned year of study in Korea 
    (Doctoral) Have attained (or will attain) a Master's degree as of August 31 of the planned year of study in Korea
  3. Possess a grade point average of 80% or above from the last educational institution attended
  4. Under 40 years of age as of September 1 of the planned year of study in Korea – Under 45 years of age for incumbent professors from ODA partner countries
Undergraduate

Language course 1 yr + Associate's course 2 or 3 yrs (Starting 2019, 3yr Associate's degree courses are included)
Eligibility
  1. Applicant must be a citizen of their country of origin
  2. 2. Have attained (or will attain) a high school graduate certificate as of March 31 of the planned year of study in Korea
  3. 3. (Bachelor's) Possess a grade point average of 80% or above from the last educational institution attended
    (Associate's) Possess a grade point average of 75% or above from the last educational institution attended
  4. 4. Under 25 years of age as of March 1 of the planned year of study in Korea
  • (Graduate) Economy air ticket for initial entry and final departure from Korea; 1,000,000KRW per month for living allowance; research support; medical insurance; resettlement allowance; completion grant, etc.
    * Award for excellent Korean language proficiency (TOPIK Level 5 or higher): 100,000 per month
    (Undergraduate, Associate's) Economy air ticket for initial entry and final departure from Korea; 900,000KRW per month for living allowance; medical insurance; resettlement allowance; completion grant
    * Award for excellent Korean language proficiency (TOPIK Level 5 or higher): 100,000 per month
