On October 30, 2025 (Thursday), Strathfield South Public School hosted the “K-1 Day: Korean Culture Experience” for 40 students from Years 5–6. The event was organized and conducted by the Korean Education Centre in Sydney, providing students with a hands-on opportunity to explore the Korean language, traditional culture, and study opportunities in Korea.
Students began the day by watching an engaging video introducing various aspects of Korean daily life and traditions, followed by a fun quiz. They then participated in hands-on activities such as Hangul stencil eco-bag making, traditional games including jegichagi (hacky sack) and ttakji-chigi (paper tile game), and a hanbok-wearing experience, allowing them to appreciate Korean culture through all five senses.
To conclude the event, students received Korean snack gifts, adding a sweet finish to their cultural experience. Many students shared positive feedback, saying “The hanbok is so beautiful” and “I want to visit Korea someday.”
A representative from the Korean Education Centre in Sydney remarked, “This program helped students feel closer to Korea, and we hope it inspires them to consider future exchange or study opportunities that strengthen connections between Australia and Korea.”
