On 13 August, the Sydney Korean Education Centre conducted the K-1 Day Program at Endeavour Sports High School for students studying foreign languages. The event was organised at the request of the school’s principal, who had previously participated in the Korean Principals’ Training Program.
The program was held in two one-hour sessions from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with 20 students in each session, for a total of 40 participants.
Students took part in a variety of activities, including ▲watching a short video about Korea and a quiz ▲making Taegukgi (Korean national flag) and Mugunghwa (rose of Sharon) bead key chains to commemorate Liberation Day ▲designing eco-bags with Hangul stencils ▲trying on traditional Korean hanbok ▲receiving information about studying in Korea.
Participants were also given DIY Hangul patch pouch kits and Korean snacks as gifts.
Student feedback was highly positive, with many saying, “It was a new and enjoyable experience” and “I would like to participate again.”
The Sydney Korean Education Centre will continue to expand opportunities for students in Australia to understand and experience Korean culture through the K-1 Day Program and other cultural exchange activities.
