The Korean Education Centre in Sydney successfully held its Term 2 Korean language course completion ceremony and cultural experience program from Tuesday, July 1 to Thursday, July 3, 2025. The event took place in each classroom during regular class hours, offering students a meaningful opportunity to wrap up their studies and engage in hands-on Korean cultural activities.
The event featured the following activities:
Students learned the meaning of the Taegeuk symbol and created their own plaster air fresheners, combining art and cultural understanding.
"Taste of Korea" – Gimbap-Making Experience
Depending on the class level, students made traditional gimbap, mini gimbap, or triangle gimbap. With ingredients prepared by the teacher, participants enjoyed an immersive experience of Korean cuisine — from assembling the fillings to rolling their own gimbap.
Before or after the gimbap activity, students also took part in a Korean language and culture quiz, which added a fun and interactive element to the session.
Using Hangul stencils, students decorated eco-friendly tote bags, expressing creativity while appreciating the beauty of the Korean writing system.
Each class held its own small-scale ceremony to celebrate the end of the term, recognize student progress, and encourage one another.
The Korean Education Centre offers a wide range of courses, from the Pre-TOPIK class for complete beginners to intermediate and advanced TOPIK preparation courses. The curriculum is designed not only to prepare students for exams but also to improve their practical language skills through high-quality instruction.
Although the TOPIK Speaking Test is not yet available in Australia, the Centre currently runs dedicated speaking classes to help students systematically practice and strengthen their speaking abilities.
In Term 1, the Centre also offered popular cultural experiences such as Korean calligraphy fan making and traditional Hanbok dress-up, which received enthusiastic responses from students.
The Korean Education Centre in Sydney will continue to promote Korean language and culture through integrated programs that combine education and cultural engagement, supporting local learners across all levels.
