Burwood Girls High School Students Take Part in Korean Cultural Experience Program

– Strengthening motivation through study abroad information and hands-on cultural activities –


On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Sydney Korean Education Centre (Director: Jiyoung Kwon) successfully hosted 16 students and 1 teacher from Burwood Girls High School for the “Study in Korea Information Session and Korean Cultural Experience Program.”


This program was designed to provide students learning Korean with practical information about studying in Korea, while also enhancing their motivation and cultural understanding through interactive activities. With high levels of interest and participation, the program became a truly meaningful experience for all attendees.


The event was conducted in two parts.
In Part 1, students watched the ‘Study in Korea’ promotional video, which clearly explained key information about studying in Korea. For those interested, booklets and brochures were provided to support further exploration of academic pathways.

In Part 2, students were divided into two groups and took part in the following Korean cultural activities:

  • Jangmyeongru Bracelet Making: Creating lucky bracelets using traditional five-colored threads and learning the meanings and symbolism behind Korean colors

  • Hangeul Stencil Eco-Bag Decorating: Designing their own tote bags using Korean alphabet stencils, while appreciating the beauty and creativity of Hangeul

  • Traditional Game Missions: Trying out classic Korean games such as Gonggi, Ttakji, and Tuho, and earning Korean snacks upon successful completion

Students actively engaged in each session, gaining firsthand exposure to Korean culture that goes beyond classroom learning. The activities helped deepen their interest and affection for the Korean language and culture.

The program concluded with a group photo taken in the Centre’s lobby, marking the end of a rich and rewarding visit.

The Sydney Korean Education Centre hopes this program has sparked greater interest in studying in Korea and contributed to broader cultural understanding. The Centre will continue to offer interactive educational programs to support Korean language learners in Australia.


Director Jiyoung Kwon stated, “We believe today’s visit has helped students strengthen their motivation and understanding of Korean culture. We will continue to support the expansion of Korean language education in Australian primary and secondary schools.”
