Korean Plant-a-School Program Grants

 

 

The Korean Education Centre will provide $30,000 over 3-years to seed the teaching and learning of Korean in NSW Public Schools.

 

Expressions of interest are invited from primary and secondary schools keen to introduce a Korean language program.

 


About the program


The Korean Plant a School Program (KPASP) is a 3-year program which assists Australian Schools to seed and sustain the teaching and learning of the Korean language by providing financial support.


  Korean is a language of growing importance in Australia and both the Department of Education in Australia and the Korean Education Centre (KEC).       are committed to strengthening and growing the study Korean in schools and colleges.


  

This program was reviewed and approved by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in 2022.

 


Funding 


The program is funded by the KEC.

 

Up to two or three schools will be selected to receive funding for 2025-2027.

Successful schools will receive $10,000 per year for 3 years to support a Korean language program..

 

The sponsorship can only be used, for example, to supplement a Korean language teacher’s salary or to purchase any relevant Korean resources. The school should endeavour to self-fund the program after the funding from KEC expires.

 

KEC will also assist in identifying a Korean language teacher, if required; and will visit the school and provide advice to Korean language teachers, if required. 


Australian Schools who wish to participate are required to express interest and agree to the program’s commitments and timeline. The expression of interest should include your school’s plan for the implementation of a Korean language program in 2025 -2027. Smaller schools may submit a joint application with another local school.

 

 

 

Applications


Please complete the expression of interest form and submit to consyd7@mofa.go.kr by 5pm on Friday, 28 June 2024.


Applicants for the 2024 - 2026 Korean Plant-a-School Program will be notified of the result by mid August 2024.
