To address the shortage of Korean language teachers in Australia, the Korean Education Centre in Sydney (KEC) and the Korea-Australia Foundation of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DEFAT) are providing financial support for 'the 2024-2025 2nd Non-Award Korean Language Teacher Training Program'. This program, operated by the Asia Institute (Korean Studies) at the University of Melbourne, will run from 5th September this year until April next year.
This year's program will include an additional 16 hours, totaling 59 hours of instruction compared to last year. Over 150 applicants have applied, and 46 participants have been selected. Most of the chosen candidates have a Korean background, are students or graduates of Korean studies, or hold qualifications in other teaching fields, reflecting their strong interest in Korean language education.
